Crocheting has been one of my longest passions – I self-taught myself to crochet in 1989 when I was pregnant with my oldest son and have loved it since.
A little bit of family history and crochet history. . . I actually had relatives that were part of the Irish potato famine in the middle 1800’s and when they came to America, they brought crochet with them. It was such a big part of their survival and in Aroostook County, Maine (where I grew up) their potato backgrounds led to Aroostook County being one of the potato capitals of the world, but it was many of the women that crocheted that kept their families afloat.
Today, crochet has evolved and changed significantly, but I like to think that a little bit of my ancestors has rubbed off on me and my craft business today!
In my opinion, the art of crocheting is unique and is an artisanal craft that will go on for decades. While I have dabbled in just about every area of the craft, I currently specialize in:
Using a variety of stitches, patterns, and colors is something I enjoy. From the simple single crochet stitch of the baby snuggle cocoon to the elaborate double back post wrap around stitch of the winter shawl – I enjoy making the pattern unique and my own. I often research patterns and tweak them to my own – so everything I create is unique and special to the end receiver.
I LOVE creating unique crocheted items for others and getting those messages afterward about how their gift just lit up the receiver’s face! I look forward to making a crochet item for you!
