Who does not love getting a card in the mail? And, even better, a handmade card that shows how much you really care! Receiving a greeting card instantly adds a smile to the receiver’s face..
In 2019, I was introduced to the art of making handmade cards and handmade paper items in general. I LOVE the creativity it allows you to make something so unique and beautiful. Learning to make handmade greeting cards what a God send when 2020 and Covid hit – it allowed me to keep my creative juices flowing, gave me the opportunity to make unique cards to help others get through that trying time, and allowed me to create special memories with my mother before she passed. While making cards is not my full-time crafting business, I will always continue making them for these very reasons.
Some of my favorite handmade cards to make have included:
Depending on the card I am making, I try to use a variety of techniques. Use of die cuts and a hand-powered die cut machine is a favorite of mine and allows so much layering which can have a unique and gratifying look. Coloring using stamps and alcohol-based markers is very calming and creates personalized cards every time. I LOVE the look of blending, but it is something that took me lots of practice to accomplish, but when it does come together – O.M.G. it looks amazing. Embossing is something I do not do very often – it requires some skill in my opinion and can be very time consuming – but the look is out of this world!
No matter what type of occasion, a handmade card will show the receiver you truly care – I look forward to helping you create that lasting memory.
